It has been through countless years and countless encounters with Thai girls that I can say with 100% complete confidence that Thai girls love farangs (foreigners) that speak their Thai language.

When I first starting traveling to Thailand I didn’t really speak the language. I knew basic words like “Hello and Goodbye”. That was it. Try ordering a meal in a Thai restaurant when all the words on the menu are in in Thai! Yeah it sucked.

It wasn’t until about a year later that I finally grasped a hold of the language. Believe me, I tried my crappy Thai out on every Thai girl that I met. If you know a lot of Thai then you can imagine what kind of responses I would get. Responses like “Mai Kao Jai” which means that “I don’t understand”. Some Thai girls know how to say “No Understand”. So, at least I know I was saying it wrong. But that is all behind me now.

Thai girls want to talk to farangs. Thai girls love English speaking people but what makes it much more desirable is if you can speak their language.

I remember the day I really figured it out. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when that bell went off in my head. I was sitting at the restaurant that is right next to the Manohra Hotel in Bangkok. The waitress came up to me and without me knowing, I ordered in Thai, eggs, coffee and toast and said thank you all without knowing it. My first language (English), had just taken the back seat on a Thai bus through Bangkok. I was now speaking Thai. Not only did I not realize the words I was saying but I said them without thinking about what to say. It just rolled off my tongue.

After I spoke out my order in Thai, the waitress just had this look of bewilderment on her face. I could only imagine that I had just done something just plain stupid. It was only after she started speaking back to me in Thai that I realized and understood the magnitude of the situation. I WAS SPEAKING THAI!!! Yeah Baby!!!. Not only was I speaking Thai but the Thai girl was understanding me!

It wasn’t long after that, that my English was still lost on that bus somewhere in Bangkok. Everywhere I went I was speaking Thai. Every Thai girl that I met, I was speaking Thai. What started out as a very confusing situation for me turned into mere pleasure. Thai girls everywhere were blown away that I was speaking Thai.

So, to answer your question, yes, Thai girls love farangs that speak Thai. And if I can quote Mr. MangoSauce, “Learn Thai and you’ll be beating the Thai Girls off with a Shitty Stick”.
